JPEG VS RAW

What is JPG? JPG is a widely used compressed image format for containing digital images. It is the most common image format used in digital cameras. JPG is also designed to compress photographs that use natural colors and light. It does not work well with line drawings of shapes, or text. JPEG stands Joint Photographic Experts Group.

What is RAW? RAW is a file format that captures all image data recorded by the sensor when you take a photo. Raw provides far more image information, allowing you to capture more detail and greater dynamic range from your camera sensor. The RAW format is ideal if you are shooting with the intent of editing the images later. Raw is a good file when wanting to play around with the brightness or just o fix anything that is to bright.

White Balance

What is white balance? White Balance is an aspect of photography that many digital camera owners don’t understand or use. Most digital cameras have automatic and semi automatic modes help you make the adjustments you need. Whit balance as is used to adjust colors to match the color of the light source so that white objects appear white. White balance will produce the desired results without the photographer having to worry about the type of lighting. The purpose of white balance is to adjust images to make the subjects look white in the final product. So it basically just helps you good lighting when taking a picture. Or at least help you make the picture look good with any type of lighting. It also tells your camera how to register color temperature.

Collage

This is my collage. It shows all the things I like and things I like to do. On the top left I have an image of the LA Dodgers logo. I put that image there because I like baseball and the LA Dodgers is my favorite baseball team. Next to that I put an image of flowers, Arctic Monkeys, Queen, and the Eiffel tower. I put the image of flowers because I really like flowers. Arctic Monkeys and queen are two of my favorite bands. I put the Eiffel Tower because I like Paris and I hope I will one day be able to go visit Paris France. I put a picture with the designer books and an image that says vouge .I put those to images because I like fashion and I thought that those images would be good. I included one of my all time favorite movies. The movie is called 10 things I hate about you.

I really like to bake so I put a picture of cookies. I also love dogs so I also put a picture of a puppy on the bottom right. I really like Vintage stuff like vinyls. I own many vinyls so I thought it would be cool if I added a picture with vinyls. I like Tyler the creator so I put a picture that says Call me if you get lost on the top right. Ariana Grande is another one of my favorite celebrity’s. She is such an amazing singer, she has great talent, and is beautiful. I overall just lover her and her music so much. One of my Favorite singer’s is Harry styles. He is such an inspiring person to not just me but many people all over the world. So I added an image of him on my collage too. I also added his butterfly tattoo he has.

I added that because I honestly just like how pretty it is. He also always says (T)reat (P)eople (W)ith (K)indness. I think that TPWK is an important think and I thought I would add it too. Last I added an Electric guitar on there because during the pandemic I bought myself my own electric guitar and I started learning how to play. I only know how to play a couple songs because it is and was different to learn many songs when you don’t know nothing about knowing how to play the guitar. I haven’t used it in a while because of school so I might of forgotten some things. But when I have time I try to practice because I am still learning how to play it.

Framing Composition

A, ISO 400, 1/2, f/8, 24mm

  1. The camera mode I used was on aperture priority (AV). I used this mode because it seems the easiest too work with.
  2. I think I do because I focused it where you can see the flowers first.
  3. I think I edited them okay. I made the background black so you can focus on the main thing.
  4. I think I would use take the photos outside and not inside and maybe use a different object.
  5. Honestly I don’t know. This was an easy assignment so I didn’t do much but I did work on it more than I usually do so maybe but I don’t know.

Action Sharp

What is action sharp? Action sharp is when you want the subject to be in focus with clear lines, crisp details, and no blurring. When trying to capture a perfect action shot you have to first get your settings right. Then you need to freeze the action. To do this you’ll need to choose a fast shutter speed. After that you need to do add motion. You will want to use a wide aperture, such as f/3.5 or lower.

It will create a narrow depth-of-field, and it helps the person or thing stand out, as the background distractions will be blurred. Picking your spot is very important when doing action sharp because when capturing an action sharp photo it all has to depend on whether you have a short or a long zoom lens. If it is possible, it’s a good idea to put yourself in a position where the person or object will be coming towards you. So basically it is just a good idea to get in the middle of the action. Hitting focus and getting the time right is really important too.

Motion Blur

TV, ISO 400, 1/2 sec, f/22, 43mm

This image shows motion blur because of how the camera captured the lights while the object is moving. I am guessing that the stutter speed was on point because if the shutter speed is to fast, it won’t capture much movement. When taking a motion blur photo will have to use a tripod because if you don’t the photo will come out super blurry. when you want to compensate for long shutter speeds when there is too much light you have to first use a small shutter speed. If you’re shooting in Shutter Priority, your camera will actually narrow the aperture for you. Then you have to Decrease your ISO. ISO impacts the sensitivity of your digital camera’s sensor to light, where a higher number will induce greater sensitivity and a lower number will induce less sensitivity. Finally you can try to a density filter. It’s a piece of glass that blocks light from passing through your lens.
