Read and reflect silhouette article

While reading the silhouette article I read that the most important rule in exposing for a silhouette is to always expose for the background and not the subject. It is better to underexpose one-half to one full stop to take more than one shot and to bracket exposures. I also found out that Silhouetting can take a simple photo of something seem more dramatic by making the subject look lonely or making the subject look more peaceful while reading the article. In the article it said that Manual mode is the best mode for automatic cameras. It is the best because the camera would try to adjust the background and make it look normal.

Light Painting

I think the artist moved a light behind the person to get that affect. I believe this picture is very eye catching because the light is pretty bright and it’s shinning on the person really cool. I like how it’s dark but you can still see her. Overall I just really like how the model is posed and how the lights are painted on the photo.

read and write cultural photos

What is Cultural photography? Cultural photography is  the art of taking photos for the  purpose of telling about a people or a culture .Many people don’t really know about cultural photography. After reading this article i learned that who we are and what we do can feel like defining characteristics. I also learned that many people will spend half our lives trying to define who we are. The other half is trying to figure out who we are when we are not doing the thing that defines us.

What is cultural anthropology? Cultural Anthropology is the branch of anthropology that is concerned with the study of human societies, cultures, and their development. There are many different categories in photography. There is also many different types of photography. Cultural photography is really fun to shoot  because you can express your culture in photos.

You can take photos of traditions  you do, and you can take pictures of foods you eat. Some other things that ca be considered as a cultural identity is your family, sports, music, dances, and so much more. They all count as cultural identity because they all have something to do with you or with your cultural.

Read and write : Introduction to using strobes

How do you use strobes? strobe lighting is used to create a short  burst of light.  you are shooting strobes outside you will need a power pack with lots of energy. Strobes need a light source so two options of light sources are a flash head with a power pack, or a moonlight. The power pack is energy for the light to use. The two power packs are symmetric packs that split power between multiple flash heads, and asymmetric packs that let the power move to different flash heads.

If Moonlight’s might be the best option for lighting when you are shooting indoors. Zoom reflectors attach a honeycomb grid for a more focused spread. Stands can be used to keep the lights up. The two main stands are the C-stands and the lightweight stands. The air-shock will soften the fall of your light, minimizing or even eliminating any damage for the lightweight stand. You need to pay attention while loosening your knobs, so your gear doesn’t get damaged when using C-stands. What kind of light modifiers are there?

There are many types of light modifiers, reflective umbrellas, flash head reflectors, honeycomb grids and soft boxes to name a few. Reflective umbrellas provide a soft light and are meant to be pointed away from the subject or models. Soft boxes are a more focused light towards the subject. honeycomb grids are attached to the strobe head to adjust the quality of the light.

Comparisons:

The no flash picture is a little to dark. It’s not a bad picture but it would be better with flash.

The flash picture came out really good. It’s not dark at all and you can see her very clearly.
